Greene County foreclosures up 124 percent in April
Greene County saw a 124 percent increase in foreclosure in April, said
Bob Horton, executive director of Urban Neighborhoods Alliance.
Altogether, there were 83 foreclosures in April, up from 37 a year ago, Horton said.
In the first four months of 2007, Greene County had 241 foreclosures, up by 51 percent from the same period last year, he said.
He encourages homeowners who may lose their homes through foreclosure to call 1-888-995-HOPE, a toll-free hotline for help.
Faced
with the rising foreclosure rates, Urban Neighborhoods Alliance has
joined initiative of the Missouri Homeownership Preservation Network
(MoHPN) to keep more Missouri residents from losing their homes to
foreclosure.
